Today’s article ‘For smoother resolution‘ has been picked from ‘The Hindu Business Line’

The article talks about the tussles that are going on under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC). The article says that the Insolvency Committee has addressed many contentious issues which are afflicting resolution process and the report is a commendable effort to address key issues but there are other issues as well which need review.

1)Litigious (adjective(विवादी): liti-gi-us
Meaning –
 tending or too ready to take legal action to settle disputes.
Synonyms-: belligerent, combative, contentious, argumentative, disputable
Antonyms – 
 unargumentative, noncontentious, noncompetitive. uncontroversial
Example –

2)Scrimmage (धक्का मुक्की): eskri-mage
Meaning –
 a confused struggle or fight(Noun) , engage in a scrimmage (Verb)
Synonyms-:   fight, battle, struggle, tussle, brawl,
Antonyms –
   peace, truce
Example –
 The two players got into a scrimmage off the court and got suspended.
3)Tussle (विवाद): tu-sal
Meaning –
 a vigorous struggle or scuffle, typically in order to obtain or achieve something (Noun) / engage in a vigorous struggle or scuffle (Verb)
Synonyms-:   scuffle, fight, struggle, skirmish, brawl
Antonyms – 
Example –

4)Errant (adjective) (भटकनेवाला): er-ant
Meaning – 
erring or straying from the accepted course or standards/travelling in search of adventure.

5)Gamut (noun)   (विस्तार): gae-mut
Meaning –
 the complete range or scope of something.

6)Dispensation (noun)   (छूट): dis-pen-sa-shun
Meaning – 
exemption from a rule or usual requirement/a political, religious, or social system prevailing at a particular time.
Synonyms-:   exemption, immunity, exception, exclusion, exoneration
Antonyms –  
disfavor, whole, denial, veto
Example – 
Because the soldier had saved his entire unit, the president gave him dispensation for his wartime crimes.
7)Preclude (verb(होने से रोकना): pre-clude
Meaning –
 prevent from happening; make impossible.
Synonyms-:  prevent, rule out, put a stop to, stop, prohibit, debar, interdict
Antonyms –
abet, aid, assist
Example – 
Even though Jane has a disability, she never allows it to preclude her from living a full and happy life.
8) Snowball  (बढ़ना): snow-ball
Meaning – 
increase rapidly in size, intensity, or importance(verb)/a ball of packed snow, especially one made for throwing at other people for fun(noun)
escalate, heighten, intensify, multiply, proliferate, swell.
Antonyms –  
decrease, lessen, lower,weaken
Example –
All this publicity has had a snowball effect on the sales of their latest album.
